Castor Oil: Best oil for hair growth

Castor oil is considered to be one of the best oils for hair growth, hair loss and dandruff when applied directly onto the scalp and hair strands. This hair growth oil contains omega 6 essential fatty acids and is high in vitamin E, making it an excellent source of nutrition for your scalp, which helps stimulate your hair follicles and boost hair growth as a result.

Due to its high humectant properties, this hair oil is perfect for women who suffer from a dry, itchy scalp as well as brittle or damaged ends. Castor oil is know to retain moisture exceptionally well and can be used directly onto the scalp and hair to treat dandruff, strengthen hair, seal split ends and smoothen rough hair cuticles.

The consistency of this hair growth oil can be quite thick and it can be a little challenging to distribute the oil across the entire scalp and hair. I personally like to mix castor oil with another liquid oil for easier application, such as coconut oil or avocado oil.

Castor Oil Hair Growth Before & After

I tested castor oil on my scalp as a hair mask, six times in 30 days. Every time I applied the oil, I left it on my scalp for about 30mins to 1 hour (sometimes more) and then rinsed off with shampoo as usual.

I mixed the castor oil with coconut oil for easier application and added a quarter of a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds powder.

I applied the mix evenly across my scalp and massaged it in. Here is the before and after picture of my hair growth results after using castor oil for 30 days (only six castor oil hair masks in one month). I think the hair growth results are pretty amazing!

Castor Oil Product Recommendation

Jamaican Black Castor Oil is an extremely popular castor oil for hair growth, and one that you should certainly consider for your own hair, eyelashes and skin. (If you suffer from acne, you may want to give castor oil a go too!)

The Jamaican castor oil is produced and sold by Sunny Isle and claim that their organic castor seeds are roasted and grounded by a manual grinder and the crushed beans are then boiled to extract the 100% pure dark brown, organic castor oil, making it one of the best quality castor oils for hair growth on the market.

Its medium consistency is perfect for women who are looking to grow their hair longer & faster and can also be used to lengthen and thicken your eyelashes and eyebrows.

How to use castor oil for hair growth

If you're looking to grow your hair longer and faster you may want to consider using Castor Oil on a weekly basis. You can treat the hair oil as a mask and you can leave it on for a few hours or overnight.

Rub and massage the castor oil mixture onto your entire scalp as this helps boost further scalp circulation and increase blood flow towards the roots, which enables all the essential nutrients to be absorbed much quicker and easier.

You can of course apply castor oil to the rest of your hair to help moisturise and smoothen any rough cuticles. You can mix castor oil with either coconut oil or olive oil for easier overall application.

Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner as normal. It might take a little longer than usual to remove all the castor oil from your hair, so make sure you wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo. After you've rinsed out the castor oil, condition your ends as normal.

When castor oil is applied on a regular basis, you'll start to notice increased hair growth results and visibly smoother, softer and nourished hair.

If you're looking to give castor oil a go, make sure you download our free 30 day Castor Oil Hair Growth Tracker sheet so that you can track and take note of your weekly castor oil hair masks and your hair length before and after 30 days.

If you don't notice any hair growth after 30 days, you might want to check your daily water intake, your overall diet and whether you are taking the right hair vitamins and nutrition that your body and scalp needs.
